Last April, a University of Michigan Law student went to police to claim she was assaulted by a tenured associate professor in the university’s Department of Near Eastern Studies.

Not on campus, but in a hotel room.

According to mlive.com, the student confessed that she had advertised her sexual services on Craigslist to help pay her tuition and the professor just happened to answer her ad.

The student told police she reluctantly agreed to allow the prof to slap her ass with a belt, but thought he went too far when he twice slapped her face.

Both student and prof acknowledged to police they did not have intercourse, but whatever the student did, the prof paid her $300. The prof said he went online to find someone who would allow him to experiment, but he said he did not do anything the student didn’t give him permission to do. He said they hugged at the end of their session.

Both the professor, 44, and the student, 22, have pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor – using a computer to commit a crime. The professor awaits sentencing Dec. 30.
